On June 13, the 2023 Annual Meeting of the Steel Industry Low Carbon Work Promotion Committee (hereinafter referred to as the Committee) and the Steel Industry Green Low Carbon Technology Exchange hosted by the China Iron and Steel Association（CISA）were held in Shanghai. With the theme of "green steel, low-carbon future", the meeting aimed to summarize the low-carbon work of the industry in stages, discuss and deploy the low-carbon development work plan, further exchange and discuss low-carbon technologies in the steel industry, promote energy-saving and low-carbon transformation of steel enterprises, and high-quality development of Chinese steel industry. 

He Wenbo, Executive Chairman of CISA, delivered a speech at the meeting, Mao Xinping, academician of the CAE Member and director of the Expert Committee of the Low Carbon Work Promotion Committee, made a work report, and Jiang Wei, Vice Chairman and Secretary General of CISA, presided over the meeting. 

He Wenbo pointed out that the task of the steel industry for the time being is transformation and upgrading, and green and low-carbon is the direction. However, green and low-carbon is not only an important task in the industry, but a systematic engineering that covers all fields and runs through the entire steel process. In fact, the dominance of green and low-carbon is not only related to the steel industry, but also to the overall economy and society. The process of the steel industry moving towards carbon neutrality is not only a transformation of the steel industry itself, but also a social engineering project. 
He Wenbo elaborated on this viewpoint from the perspectives of three major steel renovation projects and two major industrial development plans. He pointed out that whether it is capacity replacement, ultra-low emissions, and ultimate energy efficiency, these three major steel renovation projects all cover the theme of low-carbon and green. He Wenbo emphasized that when the steel industry enters the downstream, it should also be green driven, contribute to the upgrading of the industrial chain, downstream technological progress, and the realization of green and low-carbon transformation in the downstream. 

Jiang Wei stated during his hosting that since its establishment in April 2021, the Committee for the Promotion of Low Carbon Work has played a role in overall planning, organization, and coordination for the low-carbon development of the industry, and has been recognized by ministries, enterprises, and upstream and downstream. Currently, with the establishment, improvement, and implementation of the green trade system, the low-carbon transformation in the steel industry is increasingly urgent, and the related work tasks are becoming increasingly heavy. His also proposed his hope that all members of the committee can continue to exert their collective wisdom, brainstorm and actively participation.
